Polycarboxylates as Dispersants and Stabilizers for Industrial Applications

In 2002, INTERPOLYMER acquired Rohagit ® and Acrytex® Polycarboxylates from Röhm-degussa.   These anionic polyelectrolytes were developed for industrial applications and are now sold under the trademark SYNTRAN®.

Several additional polycarboxylates, including terpolymers, are now available.

SYNTRAN® Polycarboxylates for Industrial Process Water Treatment

SYNTRAN® polycarboxylates for scale inhibition in process water by threshold inhibition, dispersion and crystal modification.

SYNTRAN® Polycarboxylates as Deflocculants for Ceramics

SYNTRAN® polycarboxylates as dispersion aids and stabilizers for china clay in ceramics manufacturing processes, leading to a reduced viscosity and better processability

SYNTRAN® Polycarboxylates as Textile Auxiliaries

SYNTRAN® polycarboxylates as Sequestrants (chelating agent) for usage during scouring, dyeing, printing and other textile treatment processes; Antibackstaining for aftersoaping agents to disperse unfixed dyes and prevent them from redeposition during wash off; and as Fiber Sizing for strengthening and smoothening of polyamide filament yarns by forming thin, watersoluble films on the fibers. By lubrication a better processability can be achieved in fiber production.

SYNTRAN® Polycarboxylates as Leather Auxiliaries

SYNTRAN® polycarboxylates are used in the retanning wet-end process. They are excellent film-formers that impart softer feel and stronger body to the leather.

SYNTRAN® Polycarboxylates as Dispersants for Paints

 SYNTRAN polycarboxylates as grinding aids and for dispersion and stabilization of pigment and filler particles in waterborne paint formulations.

 

SYNTRAN® Polycarboxylates for Mineral Processing

 SYNTRAN polycarboxylates as dispersion and grinding agents in aqueous mineral suspensions (slurries) of e.g. calcium carbonate, calcium sulphate, kaolin or talc. By a reduction of the viscosity in pigment slurries, processing is facilitated, the solid content can be maximized while achieving a glood flowability.

 

SYNTRAN® Polycarboxylates for Construction Materials

 SYNTRAN polycarboxylates as dispersants and stabilizers of construction materials (concrete) allow to formulate with reduced water content, while providing a low viscosity so that the material is kept flowable and pumpable.
