for hair styling aids, skin care products and low VOC formulations.  The quick setting properties are accomplished by an innovative technology consisting in a bimodal interpenetrating polymer network incorporating both cationic and anionic functionalities.  The ability of SYNTRAN PC 5117 to set quickly under high humidity conditions and in hydro/alcohol formulations makes it a viable alternative to current resins.

The reversible cross-linking achieved by the ionic associations imparts SYNTRAN PC 5117 with easy removability and excellent holding power. The acrylic backbone provides flexibility and humidity resistance.  Its film formation temperature is balanced to give a pleasant, crisp feel without flaking.

Curl Retention

• The swatches were sprayed with a polymer containing formula  and curled prior to drying for 12 hours.
• The swatches were hung vertically and curl retention (droop) was measured initially and then hourly for the next seven hours.
• Variables such as temperature and relative humidity were controlled  in order to stress test polymer performances.

Storage

SYNTRAN PC 5117 is freeze-thaw stable, but it is recommended to store the material above 5° C. If frozen, material should be moved to a warm place and allowed to thaw completely and evaluated for performance before use. Direct heat such as steam or air heated above 50° C should not be applied.

SYNTRAN PC 5117 is storable in original sealed containers and properly monitored storage tanks at ambient temperature at least one year storable.

Safety

We know of no ill effects that could have resulted from using SYNTRAN PC 5117 for the purpose for which it is intended or from processing it in accordance with current practice. According to the experience we have gained, and other information at our disposal, SYNTRAN PC 5117  does not exert any harmful effects on health, provided that it is used properly, due attention is given to the precautions necessary for handling chemicals, and the information and advice given in our Safety Data Sheet are observed.
